Full and thick eyelashes creates a voluptuous look that complements the rest of the facial details. Everyone wants their eyes to stand out and look beautiful,which is not possible if you have thin, short eyelashes. Although mascaras, fake eyelashes and eyelash extensions are widely used to achieve thick, long and full eyelashes, a natural look is always a better option. Besides, to apply these kind of eyelashes you often need glue and some other harmful products, that can injure your eyes and keep your lashes from growing .
In this post I'm going to share with you natural ways to achieve those desired big, full and gorgeous eyelashes.
Natural Oils
Moisturize your lashes with one of these natural oils : olive oil, argan oil, sweet almond oil, sesame oil, jojoba oil, Castor oil or burdock root oil.
Castor Oil: this oil is known to its laxative effects when taken internally, but when applied externally to the hair and skin, Castor oil provides deep conditioning. Castor oil is composed of proteins, minerals, vitamin E, anti-fungicidal and anti-bacterial properties. With all these properties, when Castor oil is applied on hair, eyebrows, or eyelashes, it can facilitate the growth of hair. Castor Oil also contains a triglyceride of fatty acids that are made up of ricinoleic acid,which is known for its effectiveness in preventing bacteria viruses, yeasts, and molds.
Burdock Oil: this oil is not so that popular but is very effective when it comes to growing longer lashes. It is rich in phytoestrols and essential fatty acids and nutrients that play a key role in maintaining a healthy hair follicles and also promoting hair growth. The right burdock oil to apply to your eyelashes is the 100% organic one, that's been infused with sweet almond oil.There are some other kinds of burdock oil, and some of them contain pepper or ginseng, and you definitely don't want these ingredients next to your eyes.
Almond Oil: this oil is a rich source of monounsaturated fats, vitamin E, magnesium, and calcium. It moisturizes,conditions and promote healthy growth of your eyelashes . In addiction , this oil will also prevent your lashes from falling out.

Coconut is an excellent oil to grow and restore fuller and thicker lashes because:- It has all medium- chain fatty acids, such as lauric, capric, caprylic, and myristic acid which are meant to be essential building blocks for every cell including eyelashes.
- It penetrates the eyelashes follicles to stimulate its hair growth.
- It provides a natural lubricant to the eyes and also acts as a cosmetic that makes the lashes soft and shine.
- It strengthens the lashes to prevent them from falling or breaking and thus, boosting hair growth.
- It provides natural moisturizer to the lashes to prevent the dust and allergens getting into the eyes.
Here are some methods that you can use to grow longer and thicker lashes using Coconut oil
First Method:Dip a clean cotton swab in virgin coconut oil, dab it on the eyelashes and massage it gently with your fingers by closing the eyes-downside and opening your eyes -upside.Leave it for an hour and then wash your face with water. Actually this treatment can be more effective and show faster results if you do it before going to bed and then rinse it in the morning. Repeating this procedure regularly, you will start seeing some results in two weeks.
Second Method: This method consist in using coconut oil with other carrier oil. Add a few drops of Castor oil and lavender oil in half teaspoon of coconut oil. Stir it well and apply this oil mix onto the eyelashes. Let it sit for about an hour or two and then wash it off with water. You can also use this treatment at night for better results.
Lemon Peel
Petroleum jelly
Apply petroleum jelly with a cotton swab and sleep with it on your eyelashes. Wash if off in the morning. This will increase the length of your lashes and make them look younger.Moisturizing is essential for your eyelashes to prevent the formation of dandruff like scales on eyelids, to nourish and also strengthen your eyelashes.
Vitamin E
You can also use Aloe Vera, because it contains vitamin E. Apply some fresh Aloe Vera gel straight to your lashes using a cotton swab. Leave it overnight, then rinse it off the next morning.
Take some Shea butter on your fingertips and gently massage on your lashes daily. The best time to use this treatment is before going to bed, because you will allow Shea butter to nourish and moisturize your eyelashes for at least 6 hours, and that will promote healthy growth of your lashes and also make them thicker.
In a small bowl mix an egg yolk with 2 tablespoons of glycerin. Take a cotton swab and dip into the mixture and lightly apply on your lashes. Leave them for 15 minutes and then wash it off with cool water. If you want to see fast results, apply this mixture three to four times a week.
Shea Butter
Shea Butter contains vitamin B and vitamin E that hydrates and deep nourishes hair follicles making the eyelashes stronger, thicker ans silky.Take some Shea butter on your fingertips and gently massage on your lashes daily. The best time to use this treatment is before going to bed, because you will allow Shea butter to nourish and moisturize your eyelashes for at least 6 hours, and that will promote healthy growth of your lashes and also make them thicker.
Egg yolk and Glycerin
This is an excellent conditioner for your eyelashes. It prevents breakage and promotes instant gloss, silkiness and incredible volume to your lashes . Egg yolk is rich in Omega-3, vitamin E, fat, micro nutrients that combat dry, brittle lashes and promotes healthy, strong and thick lashes. Glycerin in this process will work as an excellent conditioner. It retains moisture and keep your lashes soft and lustrous.In a small bowl mix an egg yolk with 2 tablespoons of glycerin. Take a cotton swab and dip into the mixture and lightly apply on your lashes. Leave them for 15 minutes and then wash it off with cool water. If you want to see fast results, apply this mixture three to four times a week.
Natural Eyelash Growth Serums
Castor Oil Serum
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon of Castor oil.
- 1 teaspoon of emu oil.
- 4 drops of Lavender Essential Oil.
- 2 capsules of Vitamin E oil.
Directions:
- Mix all the ingredients together and store in a small dropper bottle.
- To use, simply squeeze one drop on to your finger or onto a cotton swab and gently massage into lash line.
- Massage gently for about 2 minutes, until it gets fully absorbed. You can do this before bed to allow this serum to stay on your lashes overnight and promote faster results.
- Use this serum daily or four times a week.
Emu oil: this oil come from the Emu bird. It is naturally rich in collagen. Emu oil possesses anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties as well. So it will eliminate all the bacterias that may be causing your lashes breakage
Coconut Oil Serum
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon or tablespoon of coconut oil, depending on the size of your dropping bottle.
- 2 drops of lavender essential oil
- 2 capsules of vitamin E oil
Directions:
- Pour virgin coconut oil into the roller bottle till it filled up to 1/4 inch from the top of the bottle.
- Add 2 drops of lavender essential oil in this coconut oil.
- Stir it well and push the roller lid on the top of the bottle.
Apply this serum at night before going to bed for faster results. Both serums can be used on eyebrows as well to help with thinning eyebrows. These serums can last up a year, as long as it kept in an air tight container.
General tips to grow longer Eyelashes
Diet : along with home remedies for long lashes, you must have a balanced diet. A few foods are great to boost the health of your eyes and eyelashes. Try to consume more apples, guavas, actually most fruits, green vegetables, eggs, meat, fish, and other source of proteins.
Eyelid Massage : massaging your eyelids gently ( I recommend to use a oil while doing so ) it will improve blood flow to the hair follicles and may stimulate growth of lashes.
Drink a lot of Water : it will help keeping your body hydrated, which is essential when you are trying to achieve bigger and fuller lashes.
